I have an old jar my grandma gave me that has what seems like german writing carved into it. The writing is kind of fancy but I think this is what it says:
"Fin Glas beim Freund ist gut gemernt"
I've tried doing a google translate search but it doesn't make sense. For those of you that speak german, can you make any sense of the above? Or what do you think it might actually be saying?
Thanks!!German to English translation help?
I think it reads - "Fin Glas bein Freund ist gut gemeint". The "Fin" is throwing me off, but the rest of it reads, "glass (jar) legged friend is commonly good", possibly referring to whatever was inside the jar being commonly known as good. Unfortunately, though, my German is a bit rusty, so even something so seemingly simple as Fin is escaping my mind at the moment. Maybe it's just a name of some kind. But anyway, that's what I've been able to come up with from that above. Does that sound similar to what you found with the Google translator? Or does my translation differ completely?
