I am currently writing a job application for Amnesty International in Austria..
I can understand German very well, however, when it comes to writing formally I'm not so good :(
so I would really appreciate it if a skilled German-speaker could translate this for me and maybe give me suggestions - I'll give you points :p please no direct translations from websites.. I need to make this cover letter good please ! :)
cheers!
"Dear ___________,
My name is _______________, and I am very much interested in taking up a part-time position for Amnesty International.
I have always wanted to help change the world for the better, but have honestly not done much to change it. I am inspired by all of the noble work that Amnesty International does. I don't think that people care enough to realize that others around them are struggling to even make a living, or are being treated unfairly.
Even though I have had no proper experience with organizations such as Amnesty International, as I am not an EU citizen and still do not have an "Arbeitserlaubnis", I still know that I have a lot to offer because one person can really make a difference. I want to let others know about what is going on "behind the scenes", and help people who are fighting for their rights and suffering around the world (whether it is for their beliefs, for their race, etc.)
_______________ "
thanks :)English - German Translation ... help ? :)?
Ok, I assume that you wish to use the formal way to address people in German. In this case, it would be:
"Sehr geehrte(r) Frau/Herr ...,

This is not an exactly literal translation but I think it should carry your meaning. HTH.
