Does anyone know a translation software from German to English?

I need a software like this for my test exam, but it has to be very on point translation.

Not like Babelfish.Does anyone know a translation software from German to English?
My first response was to send you to http://world.altavista.com/ for your translation, but I see now you're looking for a more precise way to translate.

I'm not sure if you can find one.

Being a native English speaker and studying a foreign language in college for 2 years, I found 2 things to be true in this case.

1. If I need something translated for something important such as for work, for a web site, or something of the like, don't use a translating site or software.

2. Ask someone who speaks the language to have a look at it.

When you're dealing with language translations, you almost need a human for important issues. The reason being that language is an expression of thought housed in "context".

To my knowledge computer software never gets this right because it doesn't know the context in which the text is written.

I think this is why translation web sites offer a service to have your translation done by a person.

I use Babel Fish to look up words in German such as "Fehler bei bereich" translates "Error with range". I use a lot of open source software, and a lot of it is developed in Dutch/German so I need to understand the error messages.

However when I added Spanish support to my web site, I wrote what I thought was correct, and sent an email to my Spanish friends asking them to give it a once-over.

Good Luck (Viel Glueck),
