Isidor Bogdan Zahradník (* als Bogdan Zahradnik am 25. Juni 1864 in Hosta?ov; ? 19. Februar 1926 in Wien) war Pr?monstratenser und Politiker.

Bogdan Zahradník wurde als Kind einer G?rtnerfamilie geboren, besuchte von 1871 bis 1875 die Volksschule und ab 1875 das Gymnasium in Deutschbrod. Er trat in den Pr?monstratenserorden ein und wurde am 14. Oktober 1883 im Kloster Strahov in Prag eingekleidet. Er erhielt den Ordensnamen Isidor. Von 1884 bis 1888 studierte er Theologie an der Universit?t Prag, legte am 29. April 1888 die feierliche Profess ab und wurde am 5. Juli 1888 zum Priester geweiht.

Er war Kaplan in Rochlice und ab 1890 in Iglau. Am 3. November 1897 promovierte er an der Universit?t Prag. Ab 1898 war er Bibliothekar im Kloster Strahov, am 1. Juli 1904 wurde er Mitglied der B?hmischen Akademie der Wissenschaften.

Seine politische T?tigkeit begann 1907 als Reichstagsabgeordneter der Arbeiterpartei im Reichsrat in Wien, er wurde aber 1911 aus der Partei ausgeschlossen und verzichtete 1917 auf das Reichstagsmandat.

Nach dem Zusammenbruch der Habsburger-Monarchie wurde er am 14. November 1918 der erste tschechische Eisenbahnminister. Er schloss sich der Tschechischen Nationalkirche an und trat am 23. Dezember 1919 aus dem Pr?monstratenserorden aus. In weiterer Folge war er 1920 Vorsitzender der Wappenkommission und Gesandter Tschechiens bei der ?sterreichischen Sektion der Reparationskommission. 1925 wurde er zum Direktor der Prager Hypothekenbank bestellt. Er trat 1926 – kurz vor seinem Tod – zur orthodoxen Kirche über.

Life

Bogdan Zahradnik was born to a family of gardeners. From 1871 to 1875 he went to the public school and then from 1875 to the grammar school in Havlí?k?v Brod, Czech Republic. He joined the Order of the Canons Regular of Prémontré and on the 14th October 1883 he was outfitted and equipped in the Strahov convent in Prague. He received the religious name Isidor. From 1884 until 1888 he trained for the ministry at the University of Prague. On the 28th April 1888 he laid down the solemn profession and on the 5th July 1888 he was appointed as a priest.

He was a vicar in Rochlice, Czech Republic and from 1890 in Jihlava. On the 3rd November 1897 he graduated from the University of Prague. From 1898 he was a librarian in the Strahov monastery. On the 1st July 1904 he became a member of the Bohemian Academy of Sciences.

His political jobs began in 1907 as a member of the German parliament in the labour party in the Imperial Assembly in Vienna.

After the meltdown of the Habsburger Monarchy, on the 14th November 1918 he became the first Czech rail minister. He shut down the Czech National Church and on the 23rd December 1919 he left the Order of the Canons Regular of Prémontré. As a further consequence he became chairman of the arms commission in 1920 and ambassador of the Czech Republic by the Austrian section of the reparations committee. In 1925 he was appointed as the director of the Prague land bank. He left in 1926 – briefly because of his death – to the Orthodox Church.German-English translation correction please?
